Therapy Sessions
Therapy Sessions
All therapy sessions are 50-60 minutes in length unless advised otherwise. Stop smoking sessions are approximately 2 hours long, unless you choose to do this split over two sessions (which for best results is not recommended).
Sessions usually start with a discussion about how you have been since your last session, and how you have got on with any homework tasks set, such as practicing self-hypnosis. This is also your opportunity to share with me anything that has come up, or come to mind since we last did a session.
Following this, I will review with you the progress made to date over the previous sessions and briefly explain what is planned for this hypnotherapy session. You will then relax and listen to a carefully worded session (the session script) that has been prepared specially for you. The script may use visualisations, metaphors, or analogies to help change thoughts, feelings and behaviours, in order to manage any condition you are seeking hypnotherapy for. You will then be guided back to full alertness (known as awakening).
After the hypnotherapy session you will have the opportunity to share how you are feeling at that point, and I will explain any homework I may like you to do before the next session. Homework is not always suggested, but if it is, it is generally suggested to enable you to learn to manage your condition effectively on your own.
